About this project
This project gave me a chance to work with two different kinds of input in the same Arduino-based system: ultrasonic sensing for distance measurement and RFID for access control. I liked the contrast between measuring the surroundings and identifying a card.
Ultrasonic ranging works by relating the travel time of a sound pulse and its returning echo to distance. RFID serves a different role: it provides the identification input used by the access-control part of the project. Bringing those functions together helped me keep sensing and identification distinct while organizing them around one controller.
The work developed my understanding of how a microcontroller handles connected modules and turns their inputs into useful system behavior. The project is an embedded-system prototype, not a claim of survey-grade ranging accuracy or a fully validated security installation.
What it does
- Arduino-based coordination of the system
- Ultrasonic distance measurement
- RFID identification for access control
